What is CoronaVirus and how does it spreads?

What is CoronaVirus – Covid-19?

It is a member of the coronavirus group that has never confronted before. Just like other coronaviruses, it has been transferred to people from animals. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has announced it a pandemic.

What are the symptoms this coronavirus causes?

According to WHO, the usual symptoms of Covid-19 are tiredness, fever, and a cold or dry cough. A few patients may likely have a runny nose, sore throat, nasal congestion and aches, and pains or diarrhea. Approximately 80% of people who get Covid-19 encounter a light case – nearly as dangerous as a common cold – and recover without needing any special treatment.
Nearly 1 in six people, WHO says, become severely ill. The aged and people with underlying medical problems like high blood pressure, heart problems or diabetes, or chronic respiratory conditions, are at a higher risk of serious illness from Covid-19.
Researchers have identified the specific symptoms to look for as experiencing either:

  • a high body temperature – you’ll experience burning to touch on your back or chest
  • a new dry cough – you’ll start coughing frequently

As it is viral pneumonia, medicines are of no advantage. The antiviral medications will not work on this flu, and there is currently no vaccine. The recovery of the patient depends on the immune system’s strength. A general recommendation is to have proper sleep and multivitamins and minerals in your diet.

Prevention to be taken against CoronaVirus

Even though no vaccine is available to stop the infection from the new coronavirus, you can practice measures to decrease your risk of disease WHO suggest following these precautions for avoiding COVID-19:

  • Avoid significant events and mass meetings.
  • Avoid close contact (about 6 feet) with anyone who is sick or has symptoms.
  • Keep the distance between yourself and others if COVID-19 is spreading in your community, especially if you have a higher risk of serious illness.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with your elbow or a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw away the used tissue.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth if your hands aren’t clean.
  • Avoid sharing dishes, glasses, bedding, and other household items if you’re sick.
  • Clean and disinfect surfaces you often touch daily.
  • Stay home from work, school, and public areas if you’re sick unless you’re going to get medical care. Avoid taking public transportation if you’re sick.
