Olympics is not just about games but much beyond. With the perfect blend of solidarity, fair play, and a friendly spirit, Olympic unites the five continents. It provides the best athletes from around the world with a platform to showcase their unique talent.

Right from the traditional parade on the opening ceremony to the debut of some brand-new sports, Tokyo Olympics is something people have been waiting for. While all players are performing exceptionally well, India is no less. You might be in awe of the exemplary show of the sporting spirit of enthusiastic players of India. Let’s take a look at the journey of India at the Tokyo Olympics 2021.

The First Medal of India

With a memorable opening day, Mirabai Chanu got India its very first medal at the Tokyo Olympics. By winning a silver medal in the 49 Kgs women’s weightlifting, she gave the nation a sense of relief and much-needed hope. The ever-smiling woman is someone whose ‘war cry’ can make you sit up on your lazy weekends and watch her confront the challenge with a smile.

Celebrating the Win of PV Sindhu

Defeating He Bingjiao of China, PV Sindhu, the shuttle star of India, brought home a bronze medal in women’s singles badminton. However, this was not the only reason to cheer for her. She also set a record by becoming the first Indian woman to win two medals at Olympics. In order to win the medal, she did have a tough fight against a left-handed player. Considering the Sindhu is a right-handed person, it takes a lot of expertise and revamped skills to win the match. But she did it!

The social media platforms were flooded with wishes for PV Sindhu from the celebrities. “P V Sindhu becomes the first Indian woman to win medals in two Olympic games. She has set a new yardstick of consistency, dedication, and excellence. My heartiest congratulations to her for bringing glory to India.”, read the tweet of the president of India.

Cheers for India’s Women Hockey Team

Without any doubt, you must still be celebrating the victorious win of the women’s hockey team at the Tokyo Games. Leaving behind Australia, the women’s hockey team of India made their way to the semifinals. In the land of the rising sun, the stars of India were seen shining. It was a moment indeed worth celebrating. Even though they lost to Argentina in the finals by 2-1, their game will remain a significant memory in the history of India.

Significant Wins to Celebrate

The bronze medal of Lovlina Borgohain in women’s welterweight boxing gives you yet another reason to cheer for India. With this spectacle win, she becomes the third Indian boxer to take home a medal at the Olympics. When it comes to celebrating the achievements of India at the Tokyo Olympics, Mary Kom is not to be left behind. In the Tokyo Olympics 2021, she played a brilliant match.

Even though she lost the overall match, the fighting spirit of the Indian female boxer is to be celebrated. The bronze medal won by the men’s hockey team of India is another great achievement for the nation at the Olympics. You would definitely agree that it was a phenomenal match indeed. The men’s team lost the silver medal, but their game is a story of sheer finesse. Kamalpreet Kaur and Neeraj Chopra are other prominent names for India to cheer and celebrate.

Conclusion

The achievements of the Indian players at the Tokyo Olympics are simply commendable. India may have lost many medals, still, it’s time to cheer and celebrate. The performances of the high-spirited athletes are worth cheering for, and you would definitely agree to this. India has come a long way and made its mark as a sports country. However, in order to get a competitive edge in the international arena, a lot of homework needs to be done back at home. There are still miles and miles to go, and the Khelo India campaign is paving the path for the gold-winning stories.
