The Youth… The Formidable Game Changer During Pandemic.

Since the outbreak of Coronavirus, the world is going through a lot of unprecedented challenges. Covid-19 has greatly affected young people around the world. While the education of some has been severely impacted, others have faced job losses. However, this couldn’t hold back today’s youth from playing an active role and helping people deal with global challenges. While it is a tough time for all, young people around the globe are demonstrating active leadership in their countries and communities.

Here are some of the most significant ways youth have brought about a change in society during pandemic times.

Volunteering

In the present times, when people are going through a lot, the young people are ready to volunteer in something or the other. Some youths are helping the Covid-19 patients get the oxygen cylinders on time. For instance, a medical oxygen supply shortage in Maharashtra in April led to two Sikh youth organizations launching a call centre to provide free oxygen cylinders to the needy. On the other hand, a few others are making sure that the vulnerable people have access to food and sanitation. Young people are also volunteering to help older people get their medicines and groceries without much hassle.

Contributing Innovative Ideas

The young people are coming up with innovative ideas to spread awareness about the Coronavirus online as well as offline. While the global atmosphere is full of tensions, the fake news relating to the virus adds to the stress. In order to avoid the spread of fake news, young people have come up with innovative ideas to leverage social media and hashtags to spread accurate information.

Moreover, some have even invested their energy in developing innovative apps that deliver reliable knowledge about Covid-19 to the users in the local languages. For instance, three engineering graduates from IIT-Delhi have rolled out a free app called ‘CovRelief’ that can live-track vacant hospital beds across 15 Indian cities. This not only helps in ensuring the safety of the people but also enables the users to avail the required help through direct interaction with the health experts.

Creating Awareness

Young people around the globe are continuously involved in campaigning in order to create more awareness among the people. Through different online campaigns, they are making people aware of the potential signs when they need to seek a doctor’s help. They are also holding campaigns relating to vaccination on Facebook and Twitter. That helps encourage more and more people to get vaccinated and reduces their chances of getting infected by the virus.

Inspiring Others

The young people who have already taken up a leadership position to deal with the pandemic situation are increasingly inspiring other young people through their works. That, in turn, is encouraging more youths to join the chain and work towards resolving the current challenges in society.

Conclusion

With more than 1.8 million youth worldwide, their contributions can significantly help bring about a positive change in society during pandemic times.

The courage that young people have shown to deal with significant challenges is remarkable. The times are tough, but the youths are trying their best to make situations better for society!
